Cargill closes Cerestar deal, eyes rest of company
INTERNATIONAL – USA-based company Cargill announced last week that it had completed the purchase of a 56% stake in starch-based ingredient specialist Cerestar.
Following the announcement, Cargill said that it was looking to acquire the remaining 46% of the company at 33 euro per share.
With the purchase, Cargill announced a shake-up of the Cerestar board. Cerestar produces starch-based ingredients used in the dairy industry in the production of desserts, yogurts, low fat butters, cheeses and cheese sauces.
The news follows last week’s announcement by the USA Department of Justice clearing Cargill’s 56% purchase of Cerestar from Montedison.
