UK – Express Dairies last week announced its intention to sell its Holme-on-Spalding Moor creamery to a subsidiary of Bodfari dairy group.

Express plans for the sale of the creamery, located in the East Riding of Yorkshire in the north of the UK, to complete in early February.

The factory’s chocolate crumb, condensed milk and bulk cream products, which are mostly sold to the confectionary industry, will be transferred to Bodfari subsidiary Meadow Foods. Express will transfer the factory’s cream and fruit juice polybottling operations to its facilities in Liverpool and Nottingham.

Express chief executive Neil Davidson said that the deal is part of the company’s increased focus on fresh milk supply to supermarkets and domestic milk deliveries. He added: “The proposed disposal will reduce our exposure to volatile commodity markets and will also provide a more secure future for the Holme-on-Spalding Moor plant and the great majority of its employees.”
