New milk standard in Germany
The new “QM-Milch-Standard 2020” will become effective on 1 January 2020 in Germany, when it will replace the currently used standard 2.0. The QM-Milch standard covers the basic requirements for the process of producing cow’s milk in Germany. It applies to all milk producers that participate in the delivery to the dairies.
The QM-Milch Criteria Catalog specifies the fulfillment criteria for the QM-Milch Certification Programme, which result from legal requirements, requirements for good professional practice and additional requirements for milk production.
Not only the new standard QM-Milch 2020 will come into force at the beginning of next year. The committees of QM-Milch e.V are also being subjected to revision.
Above all, the change affects the QM advisory board, which was triggered by an offer to the Federal Association of the German Food Retail Trade (BVLH).
In the future, as a result of the offered and thus probable membership in QM-Milch, BVLH will also be allowed to appoint a maximum of three permanent guests for the QM advisory board.
The three-man board of the association, which is set by the German Farmers Association (DBV), the German Raiffeisen Association (DRV) and the Dairy Industry Association (MIV), remains unchanged.
