Price increases put export industry at risk

Increasing dairy prices could signal the end of Switzerland’s thriving cheese export industry within a decade, market analysts have warned.
Switzerland Cheese Marketing (SCM), an organisation concerned with exports, said the price of Swiss specialities will increase from July this year. The extra cost that will be incurred by consumers is still unknown, but SCM blamed the rise on increased price demands from producers.
Swiss farmers receive approximately SFr0.24 (0.16 Euros) more for their milk than farmers in neighbouring Germany, where the average price paid this year has been 0.30 Euros per litre. In addition, those producers delivering milk for speciality cheeses, such as Gruy
