Goat good for Germany
Sales of goat milk cheese to private households in Germany have soared by around 22% from 2008 to 2010, according to the country’s Agrarmarkt Information Society. Retail sales of this cheese during 2010 are estimated at around 10,700 tonnes. French products in this sector continue to strongly dominated the German marked with almost every wholesale and retail outlet offering goat milk cheese imported from that country. According to estimates reported by the specialist magazine “Lebensmittel Praxis”, around 70% of traders offer goat milk cheese produced in Germany, while a little more than half of them include imports from the Netherlands in their range.
