ABC News in Australia reports that Lactalis Australia is closing its south Brisbane site in July, while its Nambour plant will be upgraded to process the milk from Queensland farmers. The Brisbane location is the largest and oldest processing plant in the territory, having been open since the 1930s and located on prime riverside real estate. Brisbane is set to host the 2032 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

Its processing will reallocated gradually, according to Lactalis Australia chief executive officer Mal Carseldine. It will impact 202 workers at the site. Brands include Pauls Milk, Ice Break Iced Coffee, Tamar Valley, Vaalia yogurt, Oak and Breaka flavoured milk and Lemnos cheese.

Lactalis became the biggest dairy in Australia in 2025, following the buy of Fonterra’s operations there and is set to spend A$200 million on modernising facilities in the country, the company says.
