Tesco looking to reduce carbon footprint
Supermarket giant Tesco will feature a carbon label on its milk packs.
The company is aiming to move closer to its target of footprinting 500 products by the end of the year. Semi-skimmed, skimmed and full-fat milk will all feature their carbon footprint as part of the retailers’ plans to footprint its basic products.
Packaging is counted as part of the processing stage of milk’s lifecycle and accounts for 9.2% of the total carbon footprint for skimmed milk, rising to 9.7% for whole milk.
