There is such a thing as too much ice cream

It pains me to say that I have had enough ice cream this week, but it’s true. By the last day of the Ice Cream Expo up in Harrogate, I had sampled flavours ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. In fact, the Yellow Submarine one truly sank me – banana, toffee and some kind of crunchy inclusion. Divine but deadly.

That being said, the expo was a show small in size yet large in foot traffic. We gave away most of our magazines and met a selection of very nice people who are dedicated to serving up the best ice cream Britain has to offer. The exhibitors also seemed pleased – the Ice Cream Alliance has moved the show from November to February, and as a result, the customers are thinking about ordering their products for the Easter weekend, which is generally when the UK ice cream season starts in earnest. Business is very good, they told me.

Despite my ice cream overdose, it left me wondering how to plan a weekend road trip to go and enjoy more of those exotic flavours I had eaten at the show. Blue Bubblegum, anyone?
