Germany’s Dairy Industry Association (MIV) has given its Milk-Scientific Innovation Award for 2015 to Ulrich Kulozik of the Technical University of Munich.

“The award is to recognize his significant scientific achievements for the companies of the dairy industry association. We thank Professor Kulozik for his practical thinking,” says Hans Holtorf, deputy chairman of MIV.

The MIV-prize of €10,000 may be awarded annually to individuals, who engage in milk-specific research and science. This may be range from natural sciences to law and economics. The decisive factor is the particular practical relevance and importance for dairy and dairy science practice.

Kulozik has contributed to the dairy industry not only scientifically, but also added practical application in the areas of concentrate technology and membrane fractionation. His work on membrane separation technology is the basis for an innovative leap in the dairy industry with new processes and products.

Professor Kulozik is one of the most active German scientists in the field of dairy and food research. In the last 15 years, since his appointment to the Chair of Food Process Engineering and Dairy Technology, he has initiated and carried out a total of 55 projects. Of these, 40 had a direct and immediate reference to milk and associated methods for processing.
