GERMANY – A protest against the use of genetically modified feed on cows making milk for human consumption could affect the whole European dairy industry.

Milchindustrie-Verband (MIV), the German milk industry association, revealed the extent of the problem when it said there is hardly a dairy cattle feed in Europe that does not contain imported soybean as a protein source.

Because of the prevalence of GM soybeans from major exporters in North and South America, nearly every non-organic milk processor could be targeted by the new campaign.
