Hitting the bottom and bouncing up

The bottom of the milk pricing market may be near, which is only good news for dairy processors and farmers. There is nothing so disheartening than seeing farmers blockading, and dumping milk, and generally protesting their lack of power in the farm to fork pyramid. Processors and farmers accusing each other and the supermarkets of not paying enough for milk. Arla is holding its price for September, and the most recent global dairy trade auction showed a 14.8 per cent increase over the last one – a higher rate than earlier in the year.
Discounters are also doing their bit, paying a floor price for milk, and I suspect we will have a return to somewhat reasonable milk prices very soon. However, I do wonder if we will ever see the end of this enormous volatility? I hope there will be some tranquility for a bit. My nerves can’t stand the ups and downs.
