IDF announces new president
WORLDWIDE – The International Dairy Federation (IDF) has announced that the UK’s Jim Begg has been elected as its president.
Begg, who is also director general of Dairy UK, was elected at the IDF meeting Melbourne, Australia, for a four-year term.
IDF director general Edward Hopkin said: “We are delighted Jim has been elected to our presidency. He is well-respected in the dairy industry on a national and international level. We are sure he will make an enormous contribution to the IDF.” Also at the IDF in Melbourne, a New Zealander and an Italian share this year’s International Dairy Federation (IDF) Award.
Dr Lawrie Creamer, a milk protein chemist from New Zealand, and Professor Pierpaolo Resmini from the Department of Food Science and Technology at the State University of Milan, Italy, were presented with the prize at the IDF’s world summit in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr Creamer is principal research scientist at Fonterra’s marketing and innovation division in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
