Global food system thought leaders from academia, non-profit organisations, dairy companies and the farming community will be featured at the Global Dairy Platform (GDP) side event at Climate Week NYC, “Why Healthy, Sustainable Food Systems need Nutrition and Climate Action.”

The event will take place from 1300-1500 (Eastern US Time) 24 September at TIAA Financial Services in New York. Virtual registration via Zoom is also available. Registration for in-person and virtual participation is available here. Please register by 8 September.

Discussion will focus on the challenge of nourishing a growing population, while mitigating environmental impact in a healthy, sustainable food system. With UNFCCC COP30 taking place later this year – two years after COP28 brought nutrition and environmental impact together in the Emirates Declaration – this is a pivotal moment to focus on healthy, sustainable food systems. Program attendees will get an appreciation for what agriculture/livestock/dairy bring to a sustainable global food system, including nutrient-rich food that nourishes a growing population, socio-economic impact that builds economic strength, and continual environmental progress through innovation.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Mario Herrero, professor in the Cornell CALS department of global development and director of Food Systems & Global Change
  • Mary Kraft, American farmer
  • Charlotte Rutherford, director of sustainability, Fonterra
  • Chris Adamo, global sustainability impact & B Corp, Danone
