Wyke Farms, a British cheese producer, saw a series of wins at the Mid Somerset Show. The company’s Mature Cheddar was honoured as the Overall Show Champion Cheese, while its Vintage Cheddar captured both Reserve Champion and Regional Champion titles. Additionally, Wyke Farms Mature Cheddar also achieved the Reserve Somerset Champion award.
Beyond these top distinctions, Wyke Farms brought home four gold, six silver, and five bronze medals for its cheddar, Red Leicester and butter.
Wyke Farms’ legacy is closely tied to the Mid Somerset Show. More than a century ago, medals were awarded to Albert ‘Jim’ Thorne, the father of Ivy Clothier, for champion sairy cows, cementing the family’s place in the region’s agricultural history. Those medals are still displayed at the farm.
Rich Clothier, managing director and third generation cheese maker at Wyke Farms, says: “We are thrilled with our award wins, it is a testament to the quality, skill and dedication that goes into our cheddar and butter making.”
The full list of cheese awards from the show is available on the Mid Somerset Show’s website.
