Meggle Holding SE is acquiring Rücker dairy, which is among the largest private cheese dairies in Germany, now creating one of the largest private dairies in the country, the companies say.
“The acquisition of the Rücker dairy is another significant milestone for us. With Rücker, we are gaining a healthy company that not only has an impressive history but also brings extensive expertise and innovative strength in cheese and dairy processing. Together, we will pool our competencies, make investments, and lay the foundation for further growth,” explains Matthias Oettel, CEO of Meggle Holding SE.
Rücker is considered a leader in the German market for Hirtenkäse and has extensive state-of-the-art facilities in milk-rich regions, according to Meggle. In 2024, the company generated revenues of around €500 million and employed approximately 610 people at its Aurich and Wismar locations.
“Following the successful integration of Stegmann Emmentaler Käsereien, now operating as Meggle Cheese, the acquisition of Rücker dairy is the next logical step in our strategy to further develop the cheese segment as one of our core areas. Meggle and Rücker share a common philosophy rooted in quality, tradition, and innovation – the ideal foundation for a successful collaboration,” adds Oettel.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the competition authorities.
