Dairy smashes sugar reduction targets in UK
The latest Public Health England progress report shows huge strides in sugar reduction made by the dairy industry for yogurts and milk-based drinks, Dairy UK reports.
The new junk food ban
The UK government, having had its prime minister suffer the terrible effects of Covid-19, has launched a new bid to tackle obesity in the country. This is via a ban on new junk food adverts on television before 21:00, along with restrictions on where foods high in fat and sugar can be promoted in store, and new rules for displaying calories on menus.
Dairy industry aids sugar reduction in Germany
In the period from 2016 to 2019, the Germany dairy industry significantly reduced the sugar and energy content of yogurt and quark preparations.
Austrian dairy reduces sugar
In Austria, the Berglandmilch brands – Schärdinger, Tirol Milch and Lattella – are reducing sugar in many products.
