Romano resigns at Fonterra

The managing director of Fonterra NZ Milk Products Gary Romano, has resigned with immediate effect. Fonterra chief executive Theo Spierings notes, “Gary has made a significant contribution during his time at Fonterra and we respect his decision.” Spierings will assume interim responsibility for the day-to-day operations of NZ Milk Products.
Fonterra has been rocked by a series of problems globally recently, the most recent being botulism contamination of its WPC80 and Russia banning its products, even though no contamination has been found in exports to Russia, the company says. Sri Lanka also claimed there was agricultural chemical contamination in milk powder sold in the country. The firm was also fined recently by the Chinese government for pricing practices.
