Jongia (UK) celebrated recently 25 years in business. The company has been representing a wide variety of firms in both the UK and Irish dairy industries over that time. There has been a long list of customers in both countries, as well as in other areas, for the past quarter century.

Over time, many suppliers have changed, but three of those have been long standing partners for at least 15 years: Facchinetti of Italy, producing fixed weight cutters, Schmid Folien of Germany, which makes cheese wraps and Ausnutria-Hyproca of the Netherlands, a producer of goat milk powders. More recent suppliers that have joined the team are the Netherlands-based Van’t Riet, producers of dairy equipment, Swiss industrial grater maker Brunner-Anliker, CPack of the UK, which manufactures wrapping equipment. Another brand new name is SCiO, a manufacturer of the mini cheese analyser. This company makes a portable device for the non-destructive testing that can be applied directly to cheese in a mould or at multiple points on a wheel, with instant results and unparalleled accuracy. Informed manufacturing decisions can be made on the spot, enhancing the production efficiency and product quality.

As a UK customer wrote, “I used it for around three years. It was very easy to use a good way to log data. I liked being able to add dialogue and pictures to the files. The cloud was good. All you had to do was log on to the app and all the information was there. All in all, I found it very helpful.”

Italian expansion

Last year, Jongia (UK) was aproached by a group of four Italian companies, supplying equipment to the ice cream Industry. These companies are: LAIeF and TeknoIce, both producers of ice cream machines, ColdCar, which is building truckbodies for the frozen food market and PackInt, a producer of chocolate processing equipment. These companies are all leaders in their field and have a proven track record in their industry. Jongia (UK) was aproached as the companies were not active in the UK and after they studied the UK market for a company that could support their sales activities, Jongia (UK) popped up on their screens.

SCiO did something similar but by using AI. They put their search query in the the search engine and Jongia (UK) Ltd. appeared as the answer.

Jongia (UK) has close relations with many UK and Irish dairies and is often the first point of reference for many of them. Recent succsses were the delivery of a fixed weight cutter to a cheesemaker in Wiltshire in the UK.

Although a smaller dairy, the advantage of fixed weight cutting made it clear that the investment could be easily justified. The same is valid for a cheese maker in the Cotswolds, which bought the same machine. A CPack model Model Major MKV went there as well. It is an entry model and can wrap cheese efficiently.

Recent trips within the UK and Ireland have identified that there is a willingness to invest in labour saving equipment, such as the cutters and wrappers. The smaller cheesemakers have their particular problems, which include high labour costs, resulting in a high cost end product. A relatively small investment can help to reduce some of the labour costs.

There is a sense of optimism in this market. Highlights are the Isle of Wight Cheese Company, which not only expand their dairy enormously, but will also be adding a shop and restaurant, making it another must see stop on the island’s tourism trail.

In Ireland, Knockanore Farmhouse cheese has expanded and the next generation is entering the business, which gives that dairy a new push in the back.

Jongia (UK) has a wide range of products and are delighted to support you with your requirements.
