Milk price increases across the dairy board
Several UK dairy processors have increased the price they pay farmers for milk to reflect the strength of the dairy markets, and to compensate for poor weather conditions and rising production costs.
Scottish First Milk will pay its members 20.6ppl for standard milk from 1 September, an increase of 2ppl, while the largest Scottish independent dairy, Graham’s Dairies, is set to increase its milk price to about 22ppl with another possible price hike to about 25ppl in October.
In England, Dairy Crest has announced an increase in its liquid milk price, which will see it reach 24.76ppl by October. There will be an increase of 2ppl for September, then an extra increase of 3.5ppl for October.
From 1 September, Robert Wiseman Dairies will increase its milk price by 2ppl to 22.08ppl. The company has also signaled a further increase, suggesting that its milk price will reach 24ppl in November.
Arla Foods UK will pay 25ppl for milk supplied by members of its dedicated supply group, Arla Foods Milk Partnership (AFMP), from 1 October.
