Dakota or bust
UK/USA – A campaign to persuade British dairy farmers to move to the American mid-west is underway, according to reports from the BBC.
Officials from South Dakota are to tour the UK to try to persuade farmers to emigrate. They will try to lure them, with facts about the mid-west such as cheap land and no milk quotas or income tax. It is hoped that these enticements might lure UK farmers currently facing job losses and farm closures.
The officials will be telling the story of how a new cheese factory opened in the area simply isn’t getting enough milk because there aren’t enough farmers. However, there are downsides to living and working in the area. For example, temperatures of -30?C. The tour of the UK will last five days starting in Scotland and finishing in Cornwall.
