Unilever opens centre of excellence for ice foods
Unilever opened its ice cream centre of excellence in a ceremony on 18 June. The centre’s two locations, in Colworth, UK and Caivano, Italy, will jointly be Unilever’s global product development centre for ice cream and ice-based foods and beverages.
Iain Campbell, director of the centre, introduced the new centre and led an interactive innovation fair at the ice foods pilot plant. He says: “Previously research and development was spread out amongst almost all Unilever sites, which made it rather fragmented. When the focus changed to bigger, bolder and faster product development, we thought it made sense to gather all the knowledge in a few centres of excellence where knowledge can be shared easier.”
