Sherlock is elementary for Milcobel

Date: 26/01/2012

Leading Belgian dairy cooperative Milcobel has taken over the Dutch cheese dealer and distributor Sherlock Cheese which itself is a product of last year’s merging of cheese merchants Verbakel & Seggelink and major Dutch importer Ravoska. Buying the €20m turnover Sherlock concern is seen as a way into the Dutch cheese market for Milcobel’s own cheese arm which trades under the Jan Dupont label. Other major players in the continually expanding Milcobel group include Belgomilk and the ice cream specialist Ysco. The group’s turnover in the last financial year totalled € 819 m from 1.1 billion kg of milk processed in nine sites.
