Growth in dairy

Results from around the world are coming in, and overall, dairy looks to have had a profitable year for the most part in 2013. What a difference a year makes. Canada, China and Brazil are all seeing gains, particularly in newer areas, ranging from infant nutrition powders to snacking yogurts. Ireland’s profits are up, no matter what part of the industry you look at. Meanwhile, Germany’s milk prices overall were below that of the production costs last year, but delving into the numbers a bit, it was not quite the case everywhere in the country. As with most countries, some areas have lower costs. I suspect we’ll see the continued migration of milk production to the northern part of the country, a trend that has been occurring for some time.
