You’ve probably scrolled past them on TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook. Dubai chocolates, fermented drinks, hot honey, cottage cheese pizza and gyoza in a dish. The year 2025 has once again shown how quickly food inspiration is spreading on social media. Arla’s inspiration kitchen tests, tastes and selects the trends, and translates them into simple recipes and practical how-to’s that everyone can throw themselves into.
First up is Dubai chocolate, which is not just a trend, it’s a definite wave. The luxurious chocolate bar with thick milk chocolate, crispy kadayif and creamy pistachio has gone straight into the top 10 of the year’s most trending Google searches. On social media, the pistachio content is exploding, and the taste is now appearing in everything from cream puffs and Shrovetide buns to desserts and cakes. Arla has developed Dubai chocolate bars, pistachio cream and Dubai cheesecake, which are all recipes that Danes have already embraced.
The advance of the protein trend continues. Cottage cheese, in particular, has gained the status of an all-round ingredient that can be used in everything: bowls, buns, cottage mayo and even cookie dough made from cottage cheese, vanilla, honey and almond flour. In 2025, sales of Arla’s cottage cheese have increased by 42% and the recipe for its cottage cheese pizza is among the year’s most searched.
At the same time, Arla is experiencing a significant demand for skyr, which has become a go-to product for those who want both protein and creamy texture. Combined with Greek yogurt, there is no doubt: protein products will only get even bigger in 2026.
If 2024 was the year of kombucha, then 2025 is officially the year when kefir and fermented milk drinks move into Danish kitchens. On social media, gut health is taking up more space than ever, and naturally fermented drinks fit perfectly into the trend. Kefir is celebrated for both taste, function and stomach balance, and Arla has experienced a significant increase in sales of kefir products of 57% by 2025. The trend is especially driven by large amounts of SoMe content with “kefir mornings” and “24-hour gut reset.” Everything indicates that fermented milk drinks will become even bigger in 2026.
The flight trend has become one of the most playful phenomena of the year. We see egg flights, tomato flights and even toast flights, where one ingredient is explored in three, five or ten ways. Creativity is the key word. At the same time, chaos cuisine continues with combinations such as yogurt plus coffee, watermelon sandwiches and hot honey on just about everything. It’s less about rules – and more about taste, courage and curiosity.
If there is one dish that has surprised in 2025, it is gyoza in a dish. The trend started on TikTok, but has become a staple of everyday food: easy, fun and full of flavour. Arla’s recipe for gyoza in a barrel is among the most popular everyday dishes of the year. Last year, Arla was unsure whether Danes knew gyoza widely enough, but now they are ready in the freezer counter in virtually all supermarkets. They still taste best when you make them yourself, and Arla’s own gyoza in dish recipes are among the most popular of the year:
