Not so silly season

I am a bit disappointed that the Fonterra crisis continues to rumble on, but as of this morning there was no new press release from the New Zealand dairy giant in my inbox, so hopefully no news is good news and the company is quietly putting its house back in order. Here in the UK, what a difference a year makes to the dairy trade – we have the voluntary agreements between the processors and farmers, and all is peaceful in dairy. Even the ice cream business in the UK has benefited from hot weather.

Of course, there is movement: Dr Judith Bryans will take over Dairy UK in October, while Sir Jim Paice takes the helm at First Milk. These are both very good appointments in my opinion and ones that build on the strengths inherent in these organisations. So far, so good.
