Of bon bons and snacking bites

Unilever’s annual report is out and the giant consumer goods company reports that its Magnums Bon Bons, which are snack-sized bites of its iconic brand Magnums ice cream, are now in 12 markets, with further introductions planned for next year.
As stated previously, the firm also addresses its plan to divest itself of the ice cream segment, noting, “In ice cream, we are focused on continuing to strengthen the business in preparation for ice cream’s separation by the end of 2025. We are doing this by developing an exciting product pipeline, designing more efficient go-to-market strategies, optimising our supply chain and building a dedicated sales team globally. The separation will create a world-leading business, operating in a highly attractive category with five of the top ten selling global ice cream brands.”
It is also part of an ongoing set of cost-cutting measures on the part of the company, which does make sense as shipping ice cream around the globe requires a different supply chain to that of Dove and Persil. More chilled supply chains required. It is set to list in Amsterdam, despite the speculation over where it would be listed in the past few months.
Meanwhile, we are busy putting together our Expo, which has seen another two speakers join the lineup – Jaap de Jonge (Jongia Uk) and Razan Alsous (Yorkshire Dama). Both have such insight into this cheese and dairy sector here in the UK and abroad. It will be a real treat to see and hear both of these industry experts, plus Michael Pincher of the Society of Dairy Technology and of course, Dr Judith Bryans of Dairy UK. I am very pleased to be able to announce these folks and am so looking forward to 29-30 October when we convene at NAEC Stoneleigh for the Dairy Industries Expo.
