Dairies trim infant nutrition prices in China

An investigation by Chinese authorities on price fixing for overseas baby formula suppliers has led to several companies dropping the prices for products they sell in China, and New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra is the latest firm to follow suit. Fonterra is reducing prices on its Anmum range of milk products by around 9%. Danone has similarly reduced the prices for its formula in China, as well as Nestlé – the latter has reduced its prices for Wyeth Nutrition products by around 11%.

According to Euromonitor International, dairy sales for China will reach $46.5 billion (€35.5 bn) in 2016, while at the same time demand for infant formula has grown.
